Iowa Cup Series Criterium Race
New this year and definitely adding some spice to Saturday’s already hot lineup, is a criterium! A criterium, or crit, is a type of short and intense bike race, usually run on closed-off city streets. Success in criteriums requires a mix of good technical skills, especially the ability to corner rapidly and sharply, and ride safely with a large group on a short circuit, as well as exceptional fitness to attack other riders and repeatedly accelerate hard from corners. A one-day license may be purchased at registration for $10 or online at www.usacycling.org. Click on “Membership.” Your license must be presented when you check in and register on day of the event.
