About Us

Building biking trails for the public to enjoy is only half the mission for the Cerro Gordo Recreational Trails committee. The job won’t be complete, as far as we are concerned, until Iowa also is built up as a regional destination for great cycling and scenery.

Formed in 2000, our nonprofit group began as a way to help build more trails, advocate cycling in local communities and promote North Central Iowa as a premier cycling destination. Since its inception, it has helped raise more than a million dollars for local trails and bike lanes throughout Cerro Gordo County.

The Bicycle, Blues and BBQ Festival is one of our largest fundraisers and is held annually every July in Clear Lake, Iowa.

North Iowa long has been touted as a strong cycling community in the Midwest because of its scenic and rural secondary roads, which lend themselves to excellent road riding and ease of access to nearby communities.
