The 2009 Bicycle, Blues & BBQ Festival is on and better than ever! Join us July 10-12 in Clear Lake, Iowa, a charming lakefront town, for a weekend of great riding, blues music to feed your soul and barbecue that’ll take care of your appetite. The event kicks off at 6:00 p.m. Friday July 10 with Brandon Scott Sellner opening up for the legendary Minneapolis blues act the Lamont Cranston Band.  Live music will continue on Saturday at 5 p.m. with Little Bobby and the Storm, the Clear Lake Municipal Band, and back by popular demand, Brandon Scott Sellner.

New fun ride routes this year to test you!  We will still have the traditional lake lap, a 14 mile leisurely ride around scenic Clear Lake, but we will also host a 31-mile trip through the rural country-side to the quaint town of Miller and a 56-mile guided ride to beautiful Pilot Knob State Park and back!  Guided rides will leave at 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. from City Park in Clear Lake.  Customized rides are also available for experienced riders.  For all of you racing enthusiasts, we will hold the Sunday morning Iowa Cup Series Road Race and the Saturday Iowa Cup Series Criterium Race (think NASCAR on bikes). A criterium, or crit, is a type of short and intense bike race, usually run on closed-off city streets. It definitely can be a nail-biting experience and makes for great fan viewing, so at least come and watch. The Iowa Cup Series Criterium Race is open to all experience levels and will run from 1 p.m. to around 8 p.m.

This year, all of our events, except Sunday’s bike race, will begin and end in scenic City Park in downtown Clear Lake, just one block from the beach and picnic areas, with exceptional boutiques, antiques shops, and renowned restaurants.
